Morning Fiber Boost

I wanted to create a home-made, chemical=free, high-fiber drink that would boost energy naturally and help appease my appetite post workout and fill me up at the same time. Energy drinks available in the market may initially give you that quick source of energy but they are loaded with caffeine and sugars that drop you flat on your face after their initial boost.

My natural fiber boost, energy drink combines soy milk with oats, chia seeds, almonds, walnuts, dates and watermelon seeds. It is delicious and loaded with health benefits of fiber also called roughage.  It keeps your digestive system clean and healthy, flushes cholesterol and adds bulk to your diet, a key factor in both losing and maintaining a healthy weight. Adding bulk can also help you feel full sooner and help you get a kick start.

Ingredients

2 cups Plain Soy Milk
4 tablespoon instant oats
1 tablespoon chia seeds
6 walnuts
10 almonds
3 dates, chopped fine
1 tablespoon watermelon seeds

Morning Fiber BoostDirections

Add chia seeds, walnuts, almonds and watermelon seeds to a spice grinder and grind into fine powder. Next add the soya milk, oats, dates and rest of the ground ingredients to the blender. Blend until mixed well.

You can add honey or replace plain soy milk with vanilla flavored one. Skip adding honey if you are using flavored milk. (Flavored milk contains sugar. If you are watching weight or looking for a healthier option then try using plain soy milk with little honey)

Pour the prepared drink in a glass and serve.

Note: If you’re new to eating high-fiber foods, it’s best to start by gradually adding fiber to your diet and increasing your water intake. Fiber absorbs water so the more fiber you add to your diet, the more fluids you should drink.
